Day 4 touring
After packing ourselves up to move out from our first b&b, we hit the road for a couple hours. To spilt up the trek we make a couple stops along the way.
Our first point is a tiny town called Weris where some Neolithic stones and some dolmens (Ancient tombs) exist across this farming countryside. The dolman we could find was quite large and made mostly of pudding stone.

The dolmen surrounded by some majestic trees
Midway thru the day we made it to our first “planned” destination:
But first a quick stop at the Liedel grocery store to grab some items to eat. Afterwards we found a roadway stop to eat our goodies in the car. Which by the way, I now have a new favorite potato chip in my life:
Les Grottes de Romouchamps in Aywaille
This cave sports the 2nd largest navigable underground river in the world according to our guide. You walk all the way to the back of the cave, then a guide ferries you back to the front on the river. The trip takes about 15 minutes.
Other fabulous formations
Stairs from early 1900’s
Even though the caves were cold, we still decided to get an ice cream after and enjoy it at a Riverside park.
Annnnnd… it was back on the road again…
Another quick stop in a town called Mechelen where we saw the local church and grabbed dinner before landing at our next B&B
By the way the number 3 slot for my favorite beers of all time has now been taken with Bourgoneg Des Flandres.
Old brown. The sweetness of a dubbel together with the acidity of a lambic, which makes for a nice bouquet of flavours.
