We saw our 2nd country on the second day as we drove an hour south to Luxembourg City. Luxembourg is mostly the city surrounded by rural farmland and castles. The city is on top of a plateau. We visited the Casements du Bock which are the natural caverns under the city overlooking the river valley. This place has been defended successfully over the centuries because they also have a natural spring. When the Germans tried to take the city in the world wars, they eventually decided to just bypass it. Only a portion is open to tourists as we think it extends under the royal palace of the Duke.
The main square is very clean and posh. It is a financial center of the EU.
Outdoor eating streak!
Colorful facade.
The palace
This guy on the political building seems appropriate? We took in the art, architecture and AC at the Modern Art Museum. (Europe is having a little early heat wave )
An exhibit on the self and prospectives in commercialism made us think.
For example, the artist made textile art from deconstructing old discarded fur coats.
We rounded out the day by introducing our group to Skip Bo. Cows and peacocks at the farm across the street kept it lively. We noticed how well we are blending in when two young men asked if we had beer to lend because it was a holiday Sunday and they were in need. Afraid this family is running more on Cole Zero than alcohol.

Are there any stairs in Luxembourg City?
